PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing prepreg, with which a prepreg lamination operation in producing a substrate from prepreg is omitted, the cost of the substrate is reduced by eliminating an undesired resin composition between fiber cloths and the substrate is thinned. SOLUTION: The method for producing the prepreg comprises laminating two or more layers of fiber cloths in advance, coating the laminate with the resin composition and drying the resin composition. Preferably the resin composition comprises a cyanate resin and an inorganic filler and preferably the inorganic filler is spherical fused silica having≤2μm average particle diameter.
