PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment agent for copper wire, even when a compact coil of copper wire is conveyed in a packing style by extremely simple packing, and is subjected to external force such as vibration, with which the occurrence of the change in the shape of a load can be prevented at the inside of the compact coil. SOLUTION: Prior to coiling of copper wire 5 in a compact coil 7, a surface treatment agent is applied to the copper wire 5. The surface treatment agent comprises potassium abietate as a base agent, and whose kinematic viscosity at 25°C is 40 to 200 cSt (centistoke). It is also possible that the surface treatment agent is added to discoloration preventive wax, and the copper wire 5 is coated with the same. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
