<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium battery excellent in a life characteristic and a capacity characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: This negative electrode for a lithium battery includes a lithium layer, and a protective layer containing an organic sulfur compound and present on the lithium layer. The organic sulfur compound preferably contains a thiol group in a terminal end group. By using the lithium layer containing the organic sulfur compound as the negative electrode, the problem of shortening of service life due to formation of dendrite during charging can be solved. Moreover, by preventing direct contact of the surface of lithium to the moisture or oxygen in the air, oxidization of lithium can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
