<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily read a difference in density between a reference density pattern and a pattern to be measured without relying upon a visually observing person. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of blocks each being a set of a gradation region 10 consisting of a pattern to be measured and a reference density region 11 consisting of a reference density pattern which is different from the pattern of the gradation region 10 and represents a density of a specific gradation value, are output on a printing medium by being adjacent to each other as a test chart 6.
