PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide transmitting/reproducing system and method of multimedia data in which an originator can deliver a favorite melody or image to a terminator and the terminator can view that image or or listen the melody. SOLUTION: A source terminal 1 transmits multimedia data while specifying a destination terminal 2 and a network 3 receives the multimedia data from the source terminal 1 and transmits a notice indicative of transmission of the multimedia data to the destination terminal 2 specified by the source terminal 1. The network 3 also receives a request for transmitting the multimedia data from the destination terminal 2 and transmits the multimedia data to the destination terminal 2. The destination terminal 2 receives a notice indicative of transmitting the multimedia data from the network 3, delivers a request for transmitting the multimedia data to the network 3 and reproduces the multimedia data received from the network 3.
