PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can apply shading to an entire image in real time and resume a newest correction state as required and monitor secular variations from a state at manufacturing. SOLUTION: A weight calculation section 1034 receives relative coordinates in a grating from position information (coordinate value) of an attentional pixel to calculate a weight coefficient (wi) multiplied with a grating point value. A cross product section 1035 multiplies a grating point value with a corresponding weight coefficient to estimate a correction value corresponding to a pixel at the same position as the attentional pixel. A correction table 1036 receiving the estimate value outputs a correction coefficient required for correcting the target pixel and a correction arithmetic section 1037 multiplies the correction coefficient with the attentional pixel to correct the attentional pixel and to obtain a corrected pixel. The obtained correction pixels are corrected for the entire image, and image data without deviation which depends on original read positions is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
