PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively hydrogenating a double bond in a conjugated diene-homopolymer and -copolymer. SOLUTION: The method for hydrogenating olefinic double bond in the conjugated diene-polymer or -copolymer comprises a step for contacting the conjugated diene-polymer or -copolymer with hydrogen in an inactive solvent in the presence of a catalyst system, wherein the catalyst system practically comprises one or more selected from titanium compounds represented by general formula (I).
