PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a plurality of depressions of the same number are required for regular character input in a character input device of a portable telephone set and PHS. SOLUTION: The input device has a storage means of inputted character and mark. The input device is provided with a candidate rearranging function which dynamically changes an allocation order for allocating the character and the mark, which are inputted just before by an input means, to a character and a mark, which correspond to a next key operation. Thus, an appearing order of character candidates corresponding to an input key is changed with decision of the character by the character input device. Consequently, the candidates of the objective character and mark can be selected faster than depression in fixed order of the character and the mark. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
