PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which covers defects on a conductive substrate without impairing superior electrophotographic properties and is excellent in repetition stability and environmental characteristics. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor obtained by forming a photosensitive layer on a conductive support by way of an undercoat layer, the undercoat layer contains a polyimide resin represented by formula (1) (where X is a divalent polycyclic aromatic group in which aromatic rings may be linked by a hetero atom and n is an integer which represents a polymerization degree) and the thickness of the undercoat layer is 1.0-50μm. Thus, an electrophotographic photoreceptor which has superior electrophotographic properties, cleanability and oil resistance and simplifies maintenance is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
