PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new ranging device and ranging system, using this which is superior in noise-proof properties and can improve ranging accuracy without constraints by modulation bandwidth. SOLUTION: The ranging device sends and receives data for ranging, having a plurality of zero-cross points and calculates the distance to the ranged side, using the time difference between the transmission timing of the data for ranging and the reception timing of the data for ranging returned from the ranged side. The device has a means of shifting the phase of ranging data transmitted back from the ranged side, according to the interval of the zero-cross points of the data for ranging transmitted to the ranging device, and calculating the distance to the ranged side, based on the detection timing of the zero-cross points of an S-curve signal produced by a process of summing a plurality of data for ranging with different phases.
