PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization mode dispersion measuring device capable of measuring accurately polarization mode dispersion of a measuring object. SOLUTION: This device comprises a light source 54 for generating incident light 52, a polarization controller 58 for polarizing the incident light and outputting incident polarized light 56, a polarization analyzer 64 for analyzing a polarization mode of transmitted light 62 acquired by transmitting the incident polarized light 56 through the measuring object 60, and a controller 66 for controlling the light source 54, the polarization controller 58 and the polarization analyzer 64.
