PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cheaply provide a useful filter for environment assessment and inspection of a fish disease pathogen having a high virus collection ratio and capable of easily and effectively collecting enough virus in seawater such as a marine birnavirus to detect a gene by using for filtration of seawater. SOLUTION: The filter is coated with protein by pouring a solution 2 of skimmed milk powder to a filter substrate 1 comprising a glass fiber or the like, and improves the virus collection ratio at filtration. The filter is frozen and dried, and this improves the virus collection ratio and simplifies storage and handling. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
