Convertible ladders with telescopic extension and with spring loaded clamping grips which lock the telescopic sections together without any play

A convertible ladder system has two telescopic ladders linked by a hinge (4) at the upper ends to erect either into a step ladder or into a single ladder. In both settings the height of the ladders can be adjusted via the relative settings of the telescopic sections (1, 2). The telescopic sections are released and secured by spring loaded grips (3) with profiled locking bolts which include side flanges which effectively stress the two telescopic sections in opposite directions thereby obtaining a locking grip without any relative movement between the sections. The lack of play between the telescopic sections provides a safe and secure support for the user.
