Injector (1) for injecting fuel in an injection system of an internal combustion engine comprises a valve needle (6) and a control piston (13), which are each axially guided in the injector, and a pressure rod (14) via which the control piston acts on the valve needle. The control piston and the pressure rod are rigidly connected to each other. The control piston is made of a higher quality material than the pressure rod. Preferred Features: The control piston and the pressure rod are connected to each other by a force- or form-locking connection, preferably by pressing, or by a material connection, preferably by welding or gluing.
