Process for separating waste materials using a sieve drum (1) with a sieve drum body comprises removing from the sieve drum gaseous and optionally dust-containing emissions produced during separation via an exhaust channel (3). The sieve drum body and the exhaust channel are used for sorting waste fractions. An Independent claim is also included for a device used for separating waste materials comprising an exhaust channel equipped with devices for sorting waste materials. Preferred Features: Dispersible waste fractions are conveyed into the exhaust channel by a gas stream (5) maintained in the upper sieve drum body and oriented parallel to the sieve drum axis.
