WORD UNIT SCRAMBLING/DESCRAMBLING DEVICE FOR OPTICAL DISC SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A word unit scrambling/descrambling device for an optical disc system and a method thereof are provided to improve an operation speed of the optical disc system by reducing time for scrambling/descrambling data through a parallel operation to operate every two scrambling bytes for one clock cycle. CONSTITUTION: The device includes an LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register)(500). In case of descramble, the descrambled data is output by perform an XOR operation between a scrambling word generated from the LFSR and a bit respectively matched with the scrambled data. In the case of scramble, the scrambled data is output by performing the XOR operation between the data before the scramble and the bit respectively matched with the scrambling word generated from the LFSR.
