PURPOSE: A system and a method for managing software applications on a GUI(Graphic User Interface) are provided to enable a user to keep an arrangement of program windows on a large desktop environment by displaying each instantiated program as a graphic window on the desktop, displaying the same as a control tile on a taskbar, and grouping the control tiles to a control tile group. CONSTITUTION: An OS(Operating System) environment generates the GUI(100). The GUI includes the first graphic windows(106-112), which is the desktop, matched with the instantiated programs. The GUI includes the second display section(114), which is the taskbar, displaying the control tiles(118-124) matched with the instantiated programs to the user. The taskbar includes various kinds of controls(116) used for instantiating the additional programs.
