Turbomolecular pump

The turbomolecular vacuum pump has a rotor (5) with a metal turbine upstream rotor section (5a) and a HOLWECK (RTM) type composite material downstream section. The downstream section (5c) has a fibre reinforcement dedicated to the loads generated along the length of the shroud. The connection zone between the metal and composite sections is made of a composite with similar mechanical and thermal characteristics to the metal section. Claims include a method of making the rotor shroud.
