Lubricating system including a lubricating structure

The lubricating system includes a flexible, nominally planar lubricating structure (42) including first and second end regions and a central region positioned there between. The lubricating structure is impregnated with a lubricating fluid and is adapted for securement to a print head carriage (40) only at the first and second end regions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a printing mechanism; and (2) a method of lubricating a carriage rod.
