<p>In the present invention, there is disclosed a food supplement comprising 60 to 70 percent by weight of amaranth extract and 30 to 40 percent by weight of fibrous material, usually amaranth fibrous material. In addition, a foodstuff grade vitamin C can be added in an amount ranging from 5 to 30 mg per one gram of the supplement dry matter to the invented food supplement. There is also disclosed a process for preparing the above-described food supplement wherein the preparation process is characterized in that a crushed and dried phytomass of amaranth plant is subjected to extraction in aqueous acidic medium and the obtained extract is then separated from solid phytomass by decantation, filtration or centrifugation. So thickened extract is then used for saturation of the fibrous material, the obtained substrate is dried and disintegrated. Extract, which saturates the fibrous material, is thickened to 15 to 30 percent by volume of the dry matter. The dried and disintegrated substrate is mainly tabletted or filled in gelatin capsules of vegetable material.</p> |
