The procedure for the packing of pouches containing a liquid, for example, in trays or cartons (5) entails at first feeding the undefined aligned pouches in a lying position, then separating them, orientating them and standing them up through 90 degrees. The pouches now in an upright position during further transportation are held on both sides, and equally spaced apart an equal number of pouches are introduced into cassettes (11) moving at right angles to the transporting direction in which they are pressed one against the other. In this state they are moved by a conveyor belt (2). An Independent claim is included for a system for the executing of the proposed procedure including a feed conveyor belt (7) to feed the pouches into a unit for separating, orientating and erecting the pouches, a gripping unit (9), a transfer station (10) and a delivery conveyor belt (2).
