PURPOSE: A method for upgrading an OS(Operating System) of a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) is provided to upgrade the OS of the PDA without using an application program. CONSTITUTION: A PC program reads version information of a downloaded ROM image, which is the OS of a new version(a). The PC program requests the version information of the current OS to a PDA program(b). The PDA program calls the version information of the current OS stated on a bootloader through a kernel(c,d). To be operated on an upgrade mode when the PDA is rebooted, the bootloader sets a flag(e). The bootloader reads the current version information from the PDA program through the kernel(f,g). The PC program compares the version by receiving the version information of the current OS from the PDA program. The OS is upgraded by rebooting the PDA(h).
