Program guide system with advertisements

摘要

A banner advertisement containing text graphics or video is provided adjacent to program listing displayed on program guide screen. The user is allowed to scroll the listings by positioning a highlight on the banner advertisement and cursor is activated. The advertisements containing video, is provided to user television equipment, by a video server. Several network nodes are used to provide television program to user television equipment. When user selects the banner advertisement, he is provided with an opportunity to tune the given channel. An independent claim is also included for implementation method of interactive television program guide method.
