A nursing bed (1) comprises a bedstead, which has a circumferential frame (2) consisting of two opposite bed ends and two longitudinal girders (3, 4). A bed bottom (5), which supports a mattress (7), is pivotally mounted on the bed ends about a pivot axis extending parallel to the longitudinal girders (3, 4) and through the centre of the bed (6). To prevent bedsores from developing, the bed bottom (5) is alternatingly pivotable from an initial position to a first turning position, in which one longitudinal side (8) of the bed bottom (5) assumes a higher position than the adjacent longitudinal girder (3), and an opposite second turning position, in which said one longitudinal side (8) assumes a lower position than the adjacent longitudinal girder (respectively 3 and 4). The bed bottom (5) has, parallel to the longitudinal girders (3, 4), downwardly projecting flanges (15, 16), which when the bed bottom (5) is pivoted to said first turning position close a vertical gap (c) formed between the longitudinal side (8, 9) of the bed bottom (5) and the adjacent longitudinal girder (respectively 3 and 4). |
