PURPOSE: A mobile terminal having a wireless mouse function and its operating method are provided to use a mobile terminal as a mouse by including a mouse input unit and a mouse communicating unit in the mobile terminal to install a function of operating as a wireless mouse transmitting unit. CONSTITUTION: An antenna(50) is provided for a general terminal communication. A terminal transmitting/receiving unit(60) connected to the antenna(50) transmits and receives data at a frequency for a general mobile terminal. A wireless mouse transmitting/receiving unit(100) generates a new communication frequency by using a reference oscillator used in the terminal transmitting/receiving unit(60) and performs a communication. A chip antenna unit(110) connected to the wireless mouse transmitting/receiving unit(100) allows a local area communication. A mouse input unit(80) obtains a mouse operation state through a physical operation of a user. A key input unit(90) selects a general terminal communication or a wireless mouse communication according to user's manipulation. A controller(70) selects a terminal communication mode or a wireless mouse mode according to an input of the key input unit(90), converts a mouse operation state obtained through the mouse input unit(80) into a serial signal and provides it to the wireless mouse transmitting/receiving unit(110).
