PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling drainage of a ceiling type air conditioner is provided to minimize noise due to drainage, to reduce power consumption, and to allow a pump to stably work. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes a water level sensor(10) installed on an inside or an outside of an evaporator of an indoor unit, sensing status of collected condensed water of the indoor unit, and outputting drainage necessity sensing signal if the condensed water reaches fixed level; and a microcomputer(20) controlling a pump driving part(12) to operate a drain pump(14) draining the condensed water for fixed time counted by an inside timer if the drainage necessity sensing signal is inputted, controlling a compressor driving part(16) to stop a compressor(18) compressing refrigerant after the fixed time has passed, and controlling the pump driving part to operate the drain pump for fixed time and stop if the drain pump works while the drainage necessity sensing signal is not inputted. The microcomputer controls the compressor driving part to operate the stopped compressor after fixed protection time has passed since the drain pump is stopped.
