PURPOSE: A starting control device of an engine is provided to execute restarting of the engine in a short time after the engine is stopped. CONSTITUTION: A starting control device of an engine has a unit for stopping the engine by detecting the closing of a throttle valve and starting the engine by detecting the opening of the throttle valve. The starting control device of the engine comprises a unit for positioning a crank to a predetermined position for the starting of the engine before starting the engine; a unit(31) for detecting the position of the crank when the opening of throttle valve is detected; a unit(30) for deciding forward rotation-preferential rpm(revolutions per minute) according to the detected position of the crank; and a starting mode-deciding unit(33) forward rotating the engine if the engine rpm is over the forward rotation-preferential rpm and starting the engine by positioning the crank to the predetermined position and then forward rotating the engine if the engine rpm is under the forward rotation-preferential rpm, according to the engine rpm when the throttle valve is opened.
