1,145,600. Compression moulding die. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Feb., 1967 [10 Feb., 1966], No. 5715/67. Heading B5A. A die for use in the compression moulding of powdered material consists of a cylindrical hollow heated mould 1, the outer surface of the wall of which is faceted, and a series of pressureapplying piston and cylinder mechanisms 4, 5, 6 mounted in an annular member 3 surrounding the die. The piston and cylinder mechanisms act through the interposition of blocks 7, on the facets of the mould and prevent radial expansion of the mould during use. The piston and cylinder mechanisms may be replaced by rods actuated by screw-adjusted resilient members. The blocks 7 and the mould are preferably made of the same material to prevent friction wear between them due to differential expansion. |
