PURPOSE: A radio wave absorbent and preparation method thereof are provided to increase the imaginary part(μ") of complex permeability in high frequency band such as 100MHz-several GHz or even 1GHz-10GHz, by using amorphous soft ferrite alloy having high permeability, thereby having excellent electromagnetic shielding effect in high frequency band. CONSTITUTION: The radio wave absorbent comprises a resin and an amorphous soft ferrite alloy having Fe groups, wherein the alloy has 25K or more of a temperature difference(ΔTx) of a supercooling liquid. The temperature difference is expressed as an equation ΔTx=Tx-Tg, wherein Tx is a crystallization initiating temperature, and Tg is a glass transition temperature. The resin is any one of fluorine type thermoplastic elastomer, fluorinated polyolefin resin, perfluoroalkoxy resin, fluorinated ethylenepropylene copolymer, polyimide resin and epoxy resin. The method for producing the radio wave absorbent comprises: mixing an amorphous soft ferrite alloy having Fe groups and an adhesive agent comprised of a fluorine type thermoplastic elastomer; solidifying the mixture; and heating the mixture at 573-773K.
