PURPOSE: An apparatus of mixing and distributing a high-density fluid, i.e. liquid, and a low-density fluid, i.e. gas, is provided to achieve even distribution throughout all sections of respective layers through optimized mixing and distribution of the two different kinds of fluid. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus of mixing and distributing a high-density fluid, i.e. liquid, and a low-density fluid, i.e. gas, comprises: a approximately horizontal plate(62) to overlap a section of a reaction chamber; and a plurality of approximately vertical pipes(60) supported by the horizontal plate and each having an upper end to communicate with a part of a reactor located above the horizontal plate and a lower end to communicate with the remaining part of the reactor located under the horizontal plate. A respective one of the vertical pipes has a lateral orifice(63). A pipe system(50) is provided to introduce the high-density liquid into a volume defined between the level of the orifice of the vertical pipe coming into contact with the high-density fluid and the horizontal plate. The pipe system has a high-density fluid discharge slot which is completely immersed in the volume on the horizontal plate.
