PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the area of a magnetic generating plane of a magnetic head in a magneto-optical recording device and to improve the recording speed of an information signal. SOLUTION: A supporting part supporting a magnetic head 3 is constituted of a load member 11 and an auxiliary load member 12, a drive means 15 is separated from the supporting part in a load state of the magnetic head 3, while the other one end of the auxiliary load member 12 is abutted on the supporting part. Also, in an unload state, as the drive means 15 is abutted on the supporting part and driven, the magnetic head 3 is separated from a disk 2, while the auxiliary member is separated from the supporting part or energizing force for the supporting part is reduced. Thereby, displacement in the horizontal direction of the magnetic head is reduced in a load state of the magnetic head, driving force of a drive means is reduced in an unload state, and the magnetic head is retreated completely in a range in which elastic deformation of the supporting part can be performed.
