PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an off-track signal producing device which produces an OFTRK signal even when a ratio of a land to a groove is any. SOLUTION: In a pseudo OFTRK signal producing circuit 18, a traverse signal is converted to digital traverse data by an A/D converter 51, and the traverse data are captured into a shift registers group 52, and the differences between each of sample points outputted from the shift registers group 52 are obtained by a computing elements group 53, and whether the differences between each of the sample points are minus or plus continuously in the specified number of times is discriminated by a discrimination part 54 , then the OFTRK signal is produced by an OFTRK signal producing part 55 on the basis of the discrimination result.
