PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid compressor in which an inverter is contained inside a compressor to achieve compactness and reduce installation space, while preventing overheat to improve durability by effectively cooling the inverter. SOLUTION: This hybrid compressor is provided with a first compression mechanism driven by a prime mover for a vehicle only, a second compression mechanism driven by an included electric motor only, and the inverter comprising a motor drive circuit and a control circuit for controlling driving of the included electric motor. At least the motor drive circuit of the inverter is disposed to be close to a wall of a cooling medium suction passage formed in a housing of the compressor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
