PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable visual recognition of a license plate from the back side of a vehicle and to exactly support the license plate even if a rear gate is in a substantially vertical state or in a substantially horizontal state when the license plate is mounted to the rear gate. SOLUTION: This license plate holding bracket comprises a gate side fixed member fixed to the rear gate 1, and a plate holding member that holds the license plate LP, is turnably connected to the gate side fixed member, and can move the license plate LP to a substantially horizontal state or a substantially standing state with respect to the rear gate 1. The plate holding member is provided with a stopper member abutting on the rear gate 1 in the substantially parallel state or abutting on a rear bumper RB in the substantially standing state.
