PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for compensating for differential pressure of an ink jet printer/plotter are provided to prevent ink from being leaked in a head direction of a printer even if an ink tank is positioned on a head of the printer. CONSTITUTION: A method for compensating for differential pressure of an ink jet printer includes the steps of generating and supplying pressurized air(S101), filtering pressurized air(S102), adjusting pressure of pressurized air, comparing pressure of pressurized air with reference pressure(S104), generating low-pressure air(S105), generating a vacuum(S106), and transferring low-pressure air into an ink tank(S109). After adjusting a flow rate of ink(S109), it is checked whether or not the flow rate is a predetermined flow rate(S110). If the flow rate is the predetermined flow rate, ink is fed into a head.
