<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength plate shared and used for the lights of all wavelengths within an optional range. <P>SOLUTION: In the wavelength plate for changing the polarization state of the light, a means for changing double refraction characteristics is provided and the light is changed to an optional polarization state by changing the double refraction characteristics. To put it concretely, the wavelength plate 100 is formed of the fine periodic structure 102 of 1/2 or less of the wavelength for which parallel plates 104 are arranged at a fixed interval, and for the interval adjusting mechanism of the parallel plates, an elastic material 105 is clamped in at least a part of the parallel plates 104 and a pressure from both sides is controlled by an actuator 103. By such a constitution, the lights of all the wavelengths in the optional range are changed to the optional polarization state by one wavelength plate 100. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
