<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner responding to a low temperature fixing system while keeping the cleaning property, having favorable offset resistance and causing no contamination in a fixing apparatus or an image, and to provide toner having sharp distribution of charges and capable of forming a visible image with favorable sharpness for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The toner for electrostatic charge image development contains a modified polyester resin and resin particles as a toner binder. The resin is obtained by dissolving or dispersing a prepolymer comprising a modified polyester resin, a compound which extends and/or crosslinks with the above prepolymer, and a coloring agent in an organic solvent, crosslinking or extending the dissolved or dispersed substance in an aqueous medium containing resin fine particles, and then removing the solvent from the obtained dispersion liquid.
