PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which is used for producing an olefin polymer with a high stereoregularity and a low molecular weight (a high fluidity) and comprises an organometallic compound, an organosilane compound, and a prepolymerization catalyst containing an electron donor having at least two ether bonds; and an olefin polymer produced by using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The prepolymerization catalyst for olefin polymerization is prepared by prepolymerizing an olefin in the presence of (A) a solid titanium catalyst component containing magnesium, titanium, a halogen, and the electron donor, (B) an organometallic compound, and (C) a compound having at least two ether bonds present via a plurality of atoms. The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises the prepolymerization catalyst, (B) the organometallic compound, and (D) an organosilane compound having a specific structure. The olefin polymer is obtained by polymerizing or copolymerizing an olefin in the presence of the olefin polymerization catalyst. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
