PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having characteristics including high mechanical strength, heat resistance, dimensional stability and transparency, and suitable for use in heat-resistant touch panels, electronic circuit boards, cards and capacitors. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film is made from a composition comprising a polyester(A) and an aromatic polycarbonate(B), having a sea-island structure composed of a sea component consisting mainly of the polyester(A) and an island component consisting mainly of the aromatic polycarbonate(B), wherein the dispersion size of the island component is 0.01-1μm.
