PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel and its operation method, which makes the best use of driving force by the rotation of a POD propeller by making a flow flowing into the POD propeller stable and satisfactory, in obtaining the driving force by rotating the POD propeller alone. SOLUTION: This vessel is provided with: a main propeller capable of moving a hull forward and backward by changing normal rotation/reverse rotation or a pitch angle; a driving engine 3 for driving the main propeller 2; and at least one POD propulsion machine. In operating the vessel, for example, in using at least one POD propulsion machine, the main propeller 2 is rotated at a low speed to avoid a flow flowing into the propeller 12 of the POD propulsion machine.
