PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device for a horizontally sliding screen capable of positively holding a moving frame for opening and closing the screen at a fully closed position, preventing enlargement of a hanger rail, and maintaining the moving frame in a perpendicular direction. SOLUTION: The horizontally sliding screen can be opened and closed by coupling a pair of frames 1 and 2 by pantograph devices 7a and 7b, arranging the screen 3a between the frames 1 and 2, expanding and contracting the pantograph devices 7a and 7b, and expanding and contracting the screen 3a. A detent 17 holding the frames 1 and 2 in a fully opened position of the screen 3a is provided on either one of the frames. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
