PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile telephone by which a survivor can be located accurately and quickly. SOLUTION: The mobile telephone comprises a first memory 1, a second memory 2, a first CPU 3, a second CPU 4, an interface 5, an antenna 6, a battery 7, and a switch 8. When a building collapses and an owner of the mobile telephone is left under rubble, a rescue worker sends an emergency signal containing a key information to the collapse site using a transmitter. The signal is received by the mobile telephone, and is subsequently sent to the first CPU 3 via the antenna 6 and the interface 5. Then, the first CPU 3 checks the key signal contained in the received signal against that stored in the first CPU 3. After confirming the coincidence of both key information, the mobile telephone transmits a rescue signal via the antenna 6 and the interface 5. By receiving this rescue signal, the rescue worker can locate the mobile telephone. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
