The evaporator (1) is for an air flow channel, where the air flow contains water droplets, has at least two porous evaporation plates (2) with open pores. The evaporation plates are aligned at an angle to the air flow direction, for two neighboring plates to overlap so that a part of the air flows through with a deflection without passing through one of the plates. The plates are arranged at carrier bars (3) in an overlapping roof tile structure in rows (23), and in horizontal series (24). The plates fit into slits (32) at the carrier bars, with an elastic seal.
