PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning unit for an electrophotographic image forming apparatus capable of being reduced in size and capable of forming highly accurate images and to provide the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical scanning unit is provided with many light emitters 110 for radiating parallel light, many rotary polygon mirrors 130 laminated and combined with a rotary shaft of a driving motor and capable of deflecting light radiated from the light emitters 110 to a main scanning direction in a prescribed angle range while rotating and capable of scanning photoreceptor drums 220 to be displaced in a sub-scanning direction, many 1st lenses 120 arranged between the light emitters 110 and the rotary polygon mirrors 130 and capable of focusing light in the sub-scanning direction, and many 2nd lenses 140 for focusing the light deflected by the rotary polygon mirrors 130 on the photoreceptor drums 220. Since many rotary polygon mirrors are rotated by one driving motor, the costs of components can be saved. The size of the optical scanning unit can be reduced and the size of the image forming device provided with the optical scanning unit can be also reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
