PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slip preventive device for a belt type continuously variable transmission and the transmission itself, simple structure and capable of preventing the endless metal belt from slippage when the load to receive from a driving wheel varies steeply. SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission includes an output side pulley 320 installed on an output shaft 300, and an assist part 400 to assist the oil pressure for narrowing the groove width of the output side pulley 320. The assist part 400 includes inertia masses 402 and 404 installed on the output shaft slidably, a stationary member 406 fixed to the output shaft 300, and a viscous fluid located between the inertia masses 402 and 404 and the stationary member 406. The viscous fluid makes movement when a difference in the rotating speed is generated between the inertia masses 402 and 404 and the stationary member 406. The assist part 400 converts the flow resistance of the viscous fluid generated at this time into an energizing force to narrow the groove width of the output side pulley 320. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
