PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turning apparatus by which high quality turned products can be obtained in a shorter period of time than in conventional methods, which has good coaxiality and precision in radial wobbling and in which no gripping mark is formed on an outer periphery and no deformation is generated. SOLUTION: In the turning apparatus, a main shaft platform A1 gripping a work 1 and rotating it, and a front turning tool platform B1 disposed in front of the main shaft platform A1 for mounting a front tool 20, and a rear turning tool platform C1 disposed at the back of the main shaft platform A1 for mounting a rear turning tool 10 are equipped. An inner diameter space 2b, 22 in which the rear turning tool 10 can move are formed in at least one of the spindle 2 of the main shaft platform A1, and a work gripping mechanism 3.
