<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit and a door closer which can be downsized. <P>SOLUTION: The door closer 100 is formed of a striker ST mounted in a vehicle chassis main body so as to be engageable with a latch 12 arranged in a trunk lid, a closer mechanism 20 for drawing the striker ST engaging with the latch 12 and closing the trunk lid, and a closer driving section 30 for activating the closer mechanism 20. The closer driving section 30 is comprised of two driving motors 32u, 32b, two worms 33u, 33b arranged in the respective driving motors 32u, 32b, and worm wheels 34 for engaging with the respective worms 33u, 33b.
