PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data backup system for a mobile terminal capable of readily backing up various information items such as telephone directory information, a mail text, and image and audio data stored in the mobile terminal. SOLUTION: The data backup system is characterized by comprising the mobile terminal and a backup center connected to the mobile terminal in a communicable enabled way, the mobile terminal is provided with: a storage for storing the various information items; and a transmission means for transmitting a copy of the information stored in the storage to the backup center via a base station, and the backup center is provided with: an authentication means for authenticating the mobile terminal whose connection is desired; a reception means for receiving information transmitted from the connected mobile terminal; a database for storing the received information sent from the mobile terminal; and a read means to read the information stored in the database in response to a request from the mobile terminal.
