PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exploded view forming device and method capable of easily forming the exploded view of an assembly formed of a plurality of parts. SOLUTION: This device has an input part 101, a shape data memory 105 for storing shape data of parts constituting the assembly, a memory 106 for storing assembling process data comprising the assembling parts and the assembling direction thereof, an arithmetic part 102 for displaying the assembly on a display based on the shape data, and a means 109 for determining arrangement positions in the exploded state of the parts constituting the assembly based on the assembling process data and the shape data. The exploded view is displayed according to the determined arrangement positions. According to this, the exploded view can be automatically formed, and man-hour for forming the exploded view can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
