PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of preventing the occurrence of jamming in carrying an original and image blurring while realizing the reduction of cost. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus 1 has an image reading means 7 for reading the image of the original, an original carrying means 6 for carrying the original so as to pass through the image reading means 7, and a shading correction plate 8 consisting of a rigid body arranged to be opposed to the image reading means 7 at a given distance through an original carrying path.
